Cole White Pitches for the Tulsa Drillers

Cole White is a former student of mine (6th grade).  He was a stand out athlete in the area here and excelled in baseball.

IMG_5245d copyFor the past few years, he’s been pursuing his dream to play pro baseball. Drafted by the KC Royals and bouncing around in their farm system for the past few years; and struggling with some injuries, he was recently released by the Royals and then picked up by the Colorado Rockies and sent to their AA team in Tulsa, OK.

I’ve been wanting to make a game to take some pictures, and yesterday, everything worked out great as I scored some press credentials to shoot the game in Frisco where the Tulsa Drillers were scheduled to play the Frisco Rough-Riders, the Texas Ranger’s AA team.  It was my first time ever to visit that park and I have to say it was impressive.  What a fan friendly park to watch a game in.

Knowing that Cole is a relief pitcher, there was no guarantees that he would even get in the game, but like I said, things worked out and he was brought in late in the game to pitch one inning.  I had the best vantage points available and was tickled to be able to get some shots of him in action.  Just kind of fun to see a former student pursuing his dream in that fashion.  I’ve known his family for years, had both his brother and sister in class as well. I know they are all rooting for him as is so many of his friends back here in the local area.

If you’d like to see my collection of photos from the night at the park, just click on the photo below and enjoy.

Keep it up, Cole.  You have a lot of people cheering you on back here at home.
