He is the potter…and we are His clay

The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.”  Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel.  And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:  “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!  (Jer.18:1-6)

Perhaps it’s the teacher in me that likes visual lessons best.  Or maybe it’s the student in me?  Either way, I was treated to an outstanding lesson today in church.  Michael & Pam Rozell of Potter’s Field ministries were in service with us today and presented a tremendous message through the use of a potter’s wheel and song.

I knew before hand that this would be a unique service and got permission to photograph their presentation.  So while part of me was in ‘photographer mode’ during the service, my heart was also deeply touched by the message as well.

What is equally impressive is the outreach ministry they are involved with ministering to children around the world…many of them in some of the most miserable conditions that we can imagine.  Sure would be an experience to get involved with some outreach like that.

I’m posting  a few of the pictures I shot today that I thought were interesting from a photographic perspective  as well.  Click on the photo to view that gallery.
